Title: Electromagnetically Induced Transparency Due To Intervalence Band Coherence In A GaAs Quantum Well
Authors: Wang, H
Abstract: We demonstrate electromagnetically induced transparency in the transient optical response in a GaAs quantum well by using the nonradiative coherence between the heavy-hole and the light-hole valence bands. (C) 2003 Optical Society of America.

Optical properties of polycrystalline metallic films

Title: Optical properties of polycrystalline metallic films
Authors: Sotelo, J; Ederth, J; Niklasson, G
Abstract: We extend the Mayadas and Shatkess approach [Phys. Rev. B 1, 1382 (1970)] to study the optical properties of polycrystalline metal thick films in the visible and far infrared range of the spectrum. We show that in this range grain boundary scattering can account for the experimentally observed lowering of the film reflectivity as the mean size of its constituent grains decreases.
