The question of how to successfully facilitate the changes needed to avoid dangerous climate change has become a critical one for researchers and practitioners. In this article, I use Integral Theory to guide a scan of one important element of climate change responseâhousehold behavior change. The Integral scan is the first step in a long-term research project to develop an integral approach to household behavior change. It comprises an initial exploration of the perspectives needed to design behavior change strategies and suggests areas that will require further research as a more comprehensive map of initiatives emerges. I sketch out the process and principles of an Integral approach to household behavior change and identify the need for further research on engaging multiple intelligences in behavior change initiatives, and on designing translative and transformative approaches
