Background This piece is for solo bassoon and ensemble composed and submitted for the Colloque du Basson International Bassoon Colloquium composition competition. Contribution - Contemporary repertoire for solo bassoon and ensemble are extremely rare. The rationale for the call for scores and composition competition was to generate new compositions for the solo bassoon in a contemporary and extended technique idiom suitable for professional performance and competition. Significance This work was an equal 2nd prize Highly Commended work in an international competition, one of six finalists selected worldwide from a competition attracting over 300 entries, indicating the international standing and competitiveness of the composer. It is a substantial (15 minute's duration) chamber work for solo instrument and chamber ensemble.
