A broadband dual-band dual-polarized (DBDP) shared-aperture array is proposed, where the novel L- and C- band overlapped stacked patches are designed as the unit cell of full array. The impedance bandwidth in the lower band is enhanced by avoiding perforation. The DBDP unit cell prototype has been fabricated to validate the overlapped-structure feasibility for phased array applications. The impedance bandwidths (|S11| ≤ -10dB) of 17.6% (219MHz) and 15% (790 MHz) are measured in L- and C-band, respectively, while good radiation patterns are also confirmed in both bands. © 2012 IEEE.
