Port Stephens Council (Council) commissioned the Centre for Local Government at the University of Technology Sydney (CLG) to engage the community on short-term and long-term parking options for Nelson Bay. The engagement responds to concerns raised by members of the Port Stephens community regarding the availability of parking in and around Nelson Bay, and a series of traffic management technical studies undertaken by Council. Council has decided to form a Citizens Panel to discuss options for short-term and long-term parking. The Citizens Panel will consider the views of parking users, evidence on parking in Nelson Bay, receive presentations from various experts, and present data collected via the survey instruments. The Panel will provide recommendations to Council on short and long-term parking options. |
