Increased planned and unplanned variability within production favors the increased occurrence of dynamic bottlenecks. The control of these bottlenecks in the form of targeted bottleneck management is currently often very inadequate and largely reactive in corporate practice. This paper presents essential user requirements as well as an evaluation system and its application for selected procedures of bottleneck identification and prediction.
