Based on surveys of all states except WA between 2001 and 2008, I examine (i) attitudes to racism and (ii) the reported experience of racism by statistical subdivisions and statistical divisions in Australia; and (iii) anomalies and consistencies between the two. Some possible reasons for revealed patterns are suggested and an argument advanced that attitudes to and the experience of racism is 'everywhere different', with implications for anti-racism initiatives.
