In many industrial and real time applications there is a necessity to obtain data from many heterogeneous sources and transfer it effectively to a Telemetry system for display, storage or processing. XML Messaging can provide an effective mechanism for doing this. However, we need to define XML Schema and XML tags in a coherent and consistent way. In a previous paper, we defined the XML tags for the Time domain model. The use of Quality of Services (QoS) provides a quantitative approach to assure the system performance. The use of XML for QoS provides a unified specification for measuring real time system non-functional requirements. This paper presents a methodology for representing QoS data in XML. By defining a solid XML Schema for the QoS real time domain attributes, applications from diverse platforms can be based on the data definition and create instances of XML documents to exchange data. © 2004 IEEE.
