This paper presents a detailed investigation of the
conversations that a group of art teachers have about
learning in art, teaching art and the system of art
education. Using an arts-based methodology the
teachers have been positioned as artists in the study
while the researcher adopts a position of appreciation
and critique. The results stress the importance of
personal qualities and feeling in art education. The
connection is made between the ways in which
accomplishment can be used to inform teacher
education in visual arts.
