Upgrade Notice

OPUS Upgrade

UTS Library will be upgrading OPUS to the latest version of its repository software.

The upgrade is scheduled to occur from 4pm, Friday 24 April to 10am Monday 27 April 2020.

During the upgrade period, the UTS community will not be able to deposit publications to the repository via Symplectic Elements. Depositing items to the repository will resume as normal after 10am Monday 27 April.

The upgrade to OPUS will ensure the repository stays current and delivers an overall faster and better service to users. It will also allow the University to move to Symplectic’s latest repository integration tool providing an improved link between Symplectic Elements and OPUS.

There will be minimal changes to the way you use Symplectic after the upgrade, however you will notice there is an additional Data Source record for OPUS within your publication record which is harvested from OPUS to Symplectic. Along with your publication’s key details, you will be able to access the file you have deposited to the repository via the OPUS Data Source record using the DSpace Direct link.

This enhanced two way integration will provide metadata improvements, increased functionality, and the potential to bring further OPUS collections into Symplectic Elements in the future.
