pubs.rights-statement	This research report presents the findings of a study conducted in 2018 at the Centre for Carers Research, Institute for Public Policy and Governance, University of Technology Sydney. The overall objective was to gain an understanding of current research and debates relevant to the focus areas of the NSW Carers Strategy 2014-2019, and to draw upon this synthesis to suggest future research directions. Literature published in English between 2008 and 2018 was considered for inclusion and a narrative approach was adopted to critically appraise the texts. The literature review provides insights that enable the identified areas of strategic importance for carers to be empirically grounded, and that point to directions for future research.	en_US
