© 2002-2011 IEEE. A simple multibeam antenna fed by a modified horn beam-forming network (BFN) is realized in substrate integrated waveguide technology. Compared with Rotman lens fed multibeam antenna, such an antenna has the merits of a simple architecture and design process. The modified horn BFN applied here is developed from a traditional horn BFN by adding multiple lateral feeds to perform the beam scanning property. The operation principle, design method, and performance of the multibeam antenna are illustrated sequentially. Fabrication and measurement are conducted to test the consistency between simulation and experiment.
