dc.description.abstract	On 24 June 1998, the Commission adopted two proposals for joint action on asylum matters, one concerning temporary protection of displaced persons, the other concerning solidarity in the reception and residence of beneficiaries of temporary protection. The principles laid down in the text of these joint actions offer a realistic, and to some extent satisfactory, solution to refugee protection in the Union. Notwithstanding the fact that certain issues remain unresolved amongst the Member States, it is likely that the bulk of the draft proposals will obtain political agreement during 1999.	en_US

Abstract:
