© 2020 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A technique to miniaturize the size of a slot antenna is presented. Square-shaped loops, dumbbell-shaped slots, and strips together with small circular patches and shorting vias are loaded on the two ends of the main radiating slot for the antenna miniaturization. A step-by-step analysis of miniaturizing the antenna is provided. It is shown here that the antenna can be miniaturized, that is, the resonance frequency is lowered, by over 56% using this technique. This antenna is realized into a prototype, and the size reduction is verified experimentally.
