This chapter attempts to unpack the uncanniness of living in the Anthropocene, in which deep time's eruption into the present through global warming presents humans with an abundance of "signs" or catastrophes and "wonders" (uncanny, and often uncannily beautiful phenomena that pass almost daily through our feeds). The chapter problematises the discourse of "wonder" as a political and affective response to an embattled nature.
