In this paper, a 1-bit electronically reconfigurable element based on a dual-layer Huygens resonance is developed for Ku-band beam-steering transmitarrays. The element consists of two antisymmetric metallic crosses printed on both sides of a dielectric substrate, which enables a non-reflection Huygens resonance. A 1-bit phase compensation is achieved by controlling two PIN diodes. For verification, the proposed element is fabricated and measured with waveguides. Good agreement is achieved between the experimental and simulated results.
