Water is critical to the effective functioning of towns and cities, their economies and all members of their
communities. When there is not enough water, too much water, or it is too polluted, these communities
suffer. Inequality of access to water services also has major implications for everyone, especially poor and
marginalised groups. Urban water managers globally are now rethinking how to tackle these issues, especially in light of climate change impacts on water systems and communities.
