This chapter provides an insight into how a large client and large contractor work together and with the supply chain to create social value on a successfully completed £60 million refurbishment project. It takes the form of a descriptive case study of the redevelopment of Meadowhall shopping centre in Sheffield, UK, which was completed in 2018. It makes extensive use of representative verbatim quotations from practitioners involved in the project, and interviewed for this case study, to report in their own words how parties coalesced to create social value. In addition to discussing this specific project, participants make reference to other less positive experiences related to social value on other projects that prove illuminating.
