David Harvey is among the most influential living Marxists. This chapter summarises his intellectual contributions across 40 years, in the context of Marxist academic thought, Geography (Harvey's chosen discipline) and the wider fortunes of Left politics before and since the collapse of communism. Harvey's thought is shown to be 'classical' in cast, highly consistent over time, and yet able to illuminate an ever changing capitalist reality.
