In this chapter, different aspects of smart bridge monitoring are discussed. It is shown that smart bridge monitoring generally involves two main areas of science: advanced sensing technologies and advanced damage detection algorithms. As such, first some data from different parts of bridge need to be collected, based on the type of monitoring strategy taken by the bridge owner, using some advanced multiphysics-based sensing technologies. The advantages of the new sensing technologies over traditional methods are fully discussed. Since the application of remote sensing and wireless sensing made the collection of large volumes of data possible, advanced data management and analysis techniques are required to manage and interpret these data from bridge monitoring. Therefore, the main aspects of data analysis techniques for smart bridge monitoring are addressed in this chapter.
