Big data appearing in health domain bring great opportunities for the health information system development. To effectively utilize the big health data, three challenges: data heterogeneity, huge data volume and high velocity of data generation, and various kinds of user requirements, need to be dealt with. To solve the problem, this paper proposes a cloud-based comprehensive health information system framework, which uses cloud computing techniques to manage and process the big health data, and provides several data analysis and recommendation services to explore the data and extract values from them.
