This article focuses on planning measures and policies, and technologies for delivering sustainable design and planning for water conservation, energy savings and green infrastructure provisions at a precinct scale. The significance and functional qualities of a“Precinct” is discussed. The collective sustainability performances of selected case studies in applying sustainable water management practices, energy-efficient technologies, increased tree canopy cover, and local food production opportunities are analyzed. Success of sustainable precincts would depend on relevant planning processes, legislative framework and informed urban policy bases,
appropriate training courses, economic benefits, sustainable community behavior and implementation of technologies.
