This chapter considers the concept of ‘children’s music’ or ‘music for children’ is problematised and used as a way to question why and how children should ever be alienated from conversations about popular music generally. The main proposition here, that there is ‘no such thing as children’s music’, but instead, that anyone can enjoy any music, sets up the conversation about expectations relating to industry, cultural exchanges and the popular music market.
