The division of popular music markets into ‘children’s’ and ‘everyone else’ is explored further I this chapter in terms of music media, with instruments, playback forms and franchises considered. Here, the way these items are aimed at children (and, supposedly, away from adults) is unpacked, and this division is ultimately questioned. Ultimately, the chapter shows that content ‘aimed at children’ as emerging musicians and fans is delivered in ways very similar to the rest of the popular music industry, making supposedly siloed spaces actually more examples of items and methods of popular music engagement that anyone can enjoy.
