This chapter is a case study considering the impact of popular music delivered through cross-media digital outlets. Focusing on music written and curated for the animated franchise Bluey, there is a direct conversation with the Bluey composer, Joff Bush, about writing music that is part of a television show designed for young children but equally enjoyable for viewers of all ages. In addition to this, the composer also discusses here he has used ‘classical’ music, which is music often not associated with childhood and parenting, as part of storytelling for a particular type of genre and narrative, using intergenerational and intercultural references that reward different audience demographics in different ways.
