dc.description.abstract	Much of the world’s data is stored, managed, and distributed by data centres on behalf of clients in IT organisations within businesses and public sector organisations. These facilities, both internal and external, and therefore the IT strategists who utilise them, are increasingly exposed to significant environmental, social and governance (ESG) risks that are increasing due to a combination of factors including climate change, digitalisation of economies, geopolitical tensions, and organised crime. The research project seeks to understand awareness amongst Australian sustainability professionals of ESG risks data centres are exposed to, including climate risks. Through an understanding of the constraints and opportunities that these professionals face in implementing sustainability initiatives in the operations of Data centres, actions can be developed to support reducing Data Centre impacts and contributing to Australia’s transition net zero emissions.

Abstract:
