A 3D printed multifocal lens antenna LA is presented for two dimensional 2D beamsteering in the terahertz THz band The proposed LA achieves a similar function to the Luneburg lens antenna within 30 By changing the height of the dielectric box the unit cell can modify the transmission phase of the incident waves The transmission phase will change with the increase of the incident angle A genetic algorithm GA is utilised to minimise the phase errors for various incident angles Practical experiments show a good agreement with simulated results The gain of 25 9 dBi is realised in the broadside direction of the proposed LA with 30 steering range and 1 1 dB scan loss in the E plane H plane and D plane Diagonal plane 45
