dc.description.abstract	Nasima was an Afghan student who studied at UTS for 18 months. She was one of the first Peace Scholars from Afghanistan whose scholarship was made possible through a collaboration between the Peace Scholarship Program and the United Nations Development Fund for Women Australia (UNIFEM) now UN Women. After completing her final semester of her Masters of Law at UTS and achieving outstanding results, she returned to Afghanistan to promote gender equality and education for Afghani women. “I came to Australia with a specific goal in mind and that was to do my Masters Degree in Law. I was firm in this determination for the reason that thousands of women in Afghanistan have faced restrictions in their education and career following the break out of civil war in 1992. My generation of women was the most unfortunate, because we were prevented from continuing our education for almost ten years. To compensate this loss, I was firmly determined to do my masters” said Nasima.	en
