A two-ring model that captures the key features of the flat Rayleigh fading indoor MIMO wireless communication channel, where local scatterers surround both Tx and Rx, is proposed. In this model, von Mises distribution is used to represent the non-isotropic indoor scattering environment for angle of arrival (AOA) and angle of departure (AOD). The influence of antenna element arrangement and scattering environment on capacity provide insights on the performance of indoor MIMO systems.
