A singly-fed CP-EMCP element having a parasitic patch with zero perturbation is introduced. In addition to the broadband characteristics of a single element, the mutual coupling in a two-element array in two orthogonal planes is also examined and compared with other published results. It is demonstrated that the proposed element is weaker mutual coupling compared to other configurations in both the planes. Computed results on a simple 2 × 2 subarray composed of offset elements show that, the array has a gain of 12.5 dBic and a much wider 1.5-dB axial-ratio bandwidth of 18.2% whilst the impedance bandwidth is 24.5%.
