This paper investigates the performance of a prototype resistive fault current limiter (FCL) made using a high temperature superconductor (HTS). Its behavior under normal operation and short-circuit conditions in a 6 kV/1 kA power system is analyzed with regard to the feasibility of using this HTS FCL device in electrical power systems. © 2007 Elsevier B.V.
