In this paper, Petri net is applied in the description of a parameterized finite element (FE) geometric modeling, which can enable the user to implement quick and easily dimensional changes, and then invoke a repetitive analysis of a FE problem. Another application of Petri net is to improve the dynamic representation of Unified Modeling Language (UML) for real-time visualization in FE package. The coordination and synchronization synthesis of Petri net are utilized in the analysis of memory-sharing conflict between the FE computation and real-time visualization. © 2006 IEEE.
