© 2003 International Academic Publishers/World Publishing Corporation. In this paper, a modified control strategy for permanent magnet synchronous motor by introducing a space vector modulation conception to a direct torque control (DTC) systems was presented in order to minimize the torque and flux linkage ripples and fix the variable switching frequency in the basic DTC system. The simulation results showed that the steady state performance of the proposed DTC was improved dramatically while keeping the dynamic performance almost as same as that of the basic DTC.
