Succession planning for directors of boards is not a widespread practice. This study investigated the attitudes of 88 board of directors of nonprofit organisations through a newly developed Succession Planning Scale. Results revealed that directors perceive succession planning in two factors practices and value. Additionally, directors perceive a positive relationship between succession planning and board effectiveness. Implications for nonprofit organisations and human resources team are addressed.
