dc.description.abstract	Over the past two years we have been studying relationships between local community welfare organizations and the corporate sector, and their understanding of each other. The overall objective of the research is to assist in the development of a “common language” for community organisations and corporations who either aspire to form, or who are currently involved in cross- sector partnerships. Our research has revealed many successful examples but also considerable areas of difference, contention and possible inequity. This paper draws on academic and industry papers, and on the findings of our own survey and in-depth interviews in Australia, to identify some of the outstanding issues, and to stimulate discussion and open dialogue between the sectors.

Over the past two years we have been studying relationships between local community welfare organizations and the corporate sector, and their understanding of each other. The overall objective of the research is to assist in the development of a “common language” for community organisations and corporations who either aspire to form, or who are currently involved in cross- sector partnerships.
