A great deal of contemporary attention, including the scholarly, is focused upon issues of sustainability and while much of this is specifically directed to environmental matters, the literature demonstrates a considerable and growing interest in human resource sustainability. Indeed, it would seem that concerns with human resource sustainability lie at the heart of much of the traditional as well as more recent employment relations research. It might be argued that all employment relations issues are at some level concerned with issues of sustainability.
