dc.description.abstract	Within this paper lean production and business excellence approaches will be brought together to one holistic improvement approach. A performance management system, which relies on the principles of variability and lead time reduction is thereby the core, which helps companies to improve their result indicators. The approach has been developed and tested over a duration of more than 5 years within several industrial projects. In all cases, considerable improvements of bottom line indicators such as inventory, productivity or quality could be achieved.

Abstract:
