By the actual practice of relieving gastrointestinal discomfort with particular foods, the impact of nutrition on gut health has long been understood. More recently, however, it has been shown that certain diets are associated with a decreased risk of developing several colonic illnesses. People today live such a different lifestyle as a result of fresh technology advancements that their diets are deficient in sufficient healthy components. In order to address this issue, pharmaceutical drugs are prescribed, which by default have undesirable side effects and complications. These diseases include diabetes, obesity, hypertension, cancer, colonic, cardiovascular, and many other lifestyle diseases. To combat this, scientists developed the idea of using nutrients as medications, giving rise to the self-explanatory word “nutraceuticals.” The terms “nutraceutical” and “pharmaceutical” are the two fundamental components of the word. Nutraceuticals are foods or parts of foods that, in addition to their fundamental nutritional worth, also provide therapeutic or health advantages. Several of the ingredients from the meals that are regarded as being healthy have already been examined and introduced into the supplement market. In this chapter, we concentrate on the most recent research on these food-obtained substances because of the proposed prophylactic and therapeutic efficacy in various colonic disorders, intending to formulate recommendations for using these items based on the available evidence.
