'Promises were made' was a installation held at Sarah Cottier Gallery in 2013 consisting of 'Homage (Study)' single 4:3 video projection and 'Flare' a large scale hand printed colour photograph. The work extended my research into the romanticism and the sublime drawing on the story of Andrew Mcauley's ill fated attempt to kayak from the coast of NSW to New Zealand. On February 2nd 2007, Andrew Mcauley attempted to cross the Tasman sea, he was presumed dead 9-12 February as his Kayak was found capsized and his body was never found. In 'Promises were made' I paid homage to this tragic event.
