This paper is part of a larger project that examines the activities and sources of information of international visitors within an urban tourist destination. It investigates how and why people choose particular cities (especially when they have a choice of such centers with a destination region). The project also examines the role they play in stimulating visitation to the city s hinterland, and whether in fact the hinterland is the reason why this city was chosen in the first place. The project is funded by the Co-operative Research Centre for Sustainable Tourism (CRCST) in Australia.
