dc.description.abstract	When strategically managed, sport can be a neutral yet exciting and proactive space for economic, social, cultural, physical and educational development. Consequently, around the world government agencies, aid organizations and NGOs have been implementing sport-for-development projects in disadvantaged communities for several years. Most of these initiatives also include special events as part of the overall program portfolio. In this chapter, we focus on discussing the opportunities and challenges of using ‘highlight events’ as a leverage strategy to reach and benefit participants and the wider community.	en_US
