dc.description.abstract	Getting published in academic journals is not an easy task, even for experienced researchers. Authors may spend months or years working on a submission; when the work fails to reach its audience, the result is lost time and potentially millions of dollars of lost effort for the field. This edited collection is written by journal editors who share the same goal of supporting authors. These editors represent more than a century of experience and practice in publishing. Each chapter is penned by editors of a specific journal, providing that journal’s mission and purpose, an explanation of the submission and review process, and advice for authors. Chapters include a best practices section where editors describe what they wish authors knew and considered prior to submission of a manuscript to the journal. As you read each of the chapters, we hope that you will be able to see both the overlap as well as specific nuanced differences between individual journals.
