In this chapter, we wi ll describe the relevant physical and chemical processes affecti ng tropospheric ozone and sul fate aerosols, and their coupling to climate. While simul ations from global chemical transpo rt models (CTMs) are used to illustrate the spatial and temporal distribution of these compounds, a cl imate model with interactive chemistry is adopted to examine the issues relevant for climatechemistry interactions affecting the regional concentrations of these compounds in the present-day climate and during future climate changes.
