With the progress of China’s opening policy and the changes of Australia international student-related policies and laws, more and more Chinese non-adult students have been attracted to pursue their studies in Australia in recent years. Some of them are unprepared for studying in Australia and thus have little idea what they will face and encounter. Others become the victims of thefts, robberies and other safety problems. The actual conditions of Chinese non-adult students have become the concern of both Chinese and Australian governments and societies. The present research drew on data collected from surveys, interviews and observations in an attempt to understand the major problems facing Chinese non-adult students in Australia. The research focused on five aspects of Chinese students’ experiences, that is, classroom activities and responses, safety, psychological conditions, communication and living conditions. Based on the findings, suggestions are made for the both Chinese and Australian governments to improve overseas students-related policies.
