dc.description.abstract	In this chapter, I will introduce the notion of the researcher, especially as a doctoral student, as someone who is expected to think for a living. Thinking for a living, it will be suggested, means following ideas - even if they take us out of what we define as our intellectual paddock and lead us to stray into neighbouring or even distant terrain' For organizational scholars, however' thinking for a living is not sufficient' We have to relate how our thinking for a living relates to the way that others are working for a living in relation to those organizations that employ them, that they relate to and work with. Thus, the second movement is to consider the relation between thinking for a living and working for a living'	en_US
